Many of you might be aware already, but Rock Runners Incorporated, my new card game, blasted through it’s goal and most of it’s stretch goals already. As of this typing, we’ve cleared goal 4 and are moving rapidly to 5!
Since we are still so early in the Kickstarter, this likely means we’ll be adding more goals today or tomorrow.
But forget all that for now, you guys showed up big time on this and I am honored, humbled and excited all at the same time to get this out and in your hands as soon as possible! We’re aiming for a completion of all fulfillment by June sometime, possibly sooner of we can make it happen.
My favorite part of all this is getting to create an additional 5 bonus cards. They’re all designed to add additional fun twists to the game, but are totally optional as well for those that prefer to play with just the base deck. More details forthcoming on those cards, and peaks at the new art and such.
I found the perfect chill-out game!
On The BOOP Show, I did a review for a new game just out in early access on Steam called “Dorfromantik“. You’d be right if you just thought to yourself, ‘what an odd name for a video game”.
The best way to describe this little gem is a SUPER chill puzzle/city builder game. But it’s also not really either of those things entirely. The simple explanation is this: You get a stack of little hexagonal tiles, each with stuff on it (houses, trees, crops, buildings, rivers, train tracks, etc.) which you then align and connect with other adjacent tiles. This creates combos and bonuses, and solves quests you get through your play time.
The goal is to keep getting new tiles by doing these small quests, or run out and start over. I am not doing this thing the justice it deserves in this description. All I know for sure is that I found it to be so chill, so pretty, so easy to relax into, that I am going to fully recommend you nab it.
Here’s a quick breakdown of what I like:
Really nice graphics and style.
Music is really chill, and works perfectly for a game like this.
Strategic, but without the stress or timers. Play at your pace.
Things I hope they add:
Some sort of overarching progression system.
A way to keep your maps in some sort of fly over mode, or let you ride a train through it. Right now, the rounds just kinda end.
A mobile version. This would be incredible on a phone or tablet.
Best part is this: It’s only $9.99 on Steam. Give it a shot and let me know what you think! You can hear me go on about it even more on The BOOP Show.
Pfizer Phase Two Friday
Getting the second shot finally. A little nervous about it knocking me out for a day or two but we’ll have to wait and see. Pretty happy to be doing it though, and glad to be fully vaccinated after that. Feels like tangible progress, even though I am under no illusions that we’re out of the weeds entirely. I hope you’re all well and healthy, and that we’ll all get a chance to see each other in person again in future.
Before I go today, I have been reading a VERY cool series from DC Comics called The Last God, and I’ll spend some time in another newsletter talking more about it. A perfect read for those looking for some dark fantasy in their comics, with a very cool mature story line that fits. Super impressed.
That’s all for now! Here’s an old joke I did about Dragon’s Lair once. It’s subtle. :)
