I'd be happy to see a community forum return. No reddit.

I liked your Diary episode on Twitter. I got burned early on in Social Media, lost a friendship over the debate over the ACA (Obamacare).

My early experience with Twitter was less-than-optimal so I rarely use it these days. Now that it strongly smells of Musk I’m considering deleting my account.

I mostly hang on Facebook these days. It’s where most of my friends and family hang out. And it’s the most efficient way to trade shifts at work.

I heavily curate my Friends list. If I get a birthday notification and I can’t figure out how I know someone they get unfriended, no matter how many mutual friends we have.

I limit myself to reading posts I’ve been notified about, either responses to my rare posts or those from close friends. Then I do something else.

And these days I avoid politics like the plague. Rather than getting into an argument I mute or unfriend those who go off the deep end, whether they’re right-wing anti-vax deep state weirdos or left wing “defund the police” wackos.

As always, I loved hearing from you today. Twitter Sonic made me laugh out loud for real! Personally I don't use twitter at all and I just lurk on "The FaceBook" but I read and interact with newsletters from people I care about. So I am giving a huge thumbs up for the Substack approach : - ) (mykberg in chat if I'm every free from work during TMS stream time)

Social media for me has always and only been a tool for staying connected with my friends. I don't really get worked up when platforms start to tank because, in my experience, they always do. My friends and I started on ICQ and AIM back in the day, and to us when one platform starts to go the way of the dodo, we switch. These days we're pretty much all Instagram, but that will change too at some point.

I only really used Twitter was during Live PD, it was cool to be apart of that, there were times that the viewers spotted stuff the cops missed, and actually found missing persons, Facebook was ok until the orange Twatwaffle brainwashed his cult, and I had to cull some friends and family for my sanity. I just follow certain groups now, the Tadpool being the most prolific.

I was very into twitter since the beginning, stopped using it around 2016 when the election ruined everything. Tried to get back into it during the end of the pandemic but then Musk took over and everything went to shit again.
